Mainstreaming Disability in Science, Politics and Society

is the vision of the IMEW. The needs of disabled people should always be considered from the very beginning in any research and legislative projects.

If Disability Mainstreaming were established practice no discriminating passages would appear in legislative projects, as was the case during preparation of the German tissue law.

In the year 2008 the IMEW will work with increased vigour on the realization of this vision so that the perspective of disabled people will receive better and earlier consideration in all legislative projects: genetic testing, advanced directives, stem cell research and prevention.
